JOHNSON AND GUYANA ON THE VERGE OF HISTORY
Guyana men’s national team, managed by former Notts County, Birmingham City and Derby County defender Michael Johnson, are just 90 minutes from qualifying for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Golden Jaguars face Belize at home on Saturday (tomorrow) at 10.30pm (GMT) in a winner-takes-all clash. A win for Guyana would see them qualify for the Gold Cup, which would represent their first qualification for a tournament in their history.
Guyana have secured wins over Barbados and Turks & Caicos Islands, whilst narrowly losing to French Guiana, and are currently in eighth position in qualification, with the top ten sides out of 34 joining the six automatic participants; Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
