Across the country last weekend (17-18 November), participants in sport joined together to campaign against LGBTQ discrimination in the game, by supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces initiative.

Following the first of three weekends of awareness, Liverpool County FA referee and Merseyside grassroots coach Greg McLean has opened up about how, after years of struggles, be summoned up the courage to come out as gay to his family, colleagues and people he coached within the game.

In his inspiring story, Greg reveals the incredible support he received from everybody and his hope that one day, gay footballers around the world feel able to open up about who they are.
