Following his departure from Bangor City Football Club, Oporto Sports client Kevin Nicholson has released this statement:

“I would like to thank Bangor City FC for giving me the opportunity to manage and coach the team in May 2017.

“I am extremely proud of our achievements this season. We finished as runners-up in the JD Welsh Premier League, the club’s best finish in six years.

“We also reached the JD Welsh Cup semi-finals and were the only side to complete a double over the champions, TNS.

“I accepted the role to challenge myself and gain valuable experience as a Manager / Head Coach in the senior game, having worked extensively as a coach at academy level for a number of years previously.

“We worked together to improve, I learned a great deal and hope the players have too. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with them, the staff and everyone at the club. I wish them all the best for the future.

“I will also never forget the level of support I personally had from the Bangor fans. Their backing from the first day, until the end, will remain in my heart forever and I thank them for how they welcomed me and my family into their club.

“This has been a rewarding year; winning the JD Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month award in November 2017 and being nominated again in February, were real honours, which I wouldn’t have had without the dedication and talent displayed by the staff and the players.

“Together, we improved in many areas to surpass the previous season’s points total, enjoying plenty of victories along the way; including the club’s biggest league win for five years.

“It was also pleasing to give debuts to several academy graduates; young players that will hopefully go on to succeed in the professional game.

“I now look forward to the future and the next challenge.”
