The Guardian spoke to players, an agent, an owner, a chief executive, with Clarke speaking as a manager, to provide a wider reflection on the anticipated effect of the salary cap.
Darrell’s league season begins tomorrow (Saturday) at home to Grimsby Town at 3pm, after an unlucky defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on penalties in the EFL Cup, and a shootout win over his former club, Bristol Rovers, in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
