As part of their mission to ensure girls have equal access to cricket in their region, Cumbria Cricket have managed to secure sponsorship from Fibrus Broadband to help launch a new hard ball league which aims to help girls get onto the Cumbria Cricket County Age Group Pathway.
The Fibrus 100 League comprises of five franchise-style teams representing geographical regions of Cumbria, with players taken from local clubs in those regions.
Cumbria Cricket’s Director of Cricket Development, Bob Simpson, said: “This league is a platform with the potential to transform women’s and girls’ cricket in the area, and we are proud to be working with clubs across our county to deliver this.”
