Darrell Clarke: LMA Statement

Oporto Sports client Darrell Clarke has today (Friday) released the following statement via The LMA:

“I would like to begin by thanking everyone connected with Port Vale Football Club for their love and support throughout my time at the club.

“I am extremely proud of our collective achievements; initially securing the club’s League 2 status, then reaching the play-offs last season and winning promotion on that perfect day at Wembley, before building a side that was competitive in League 1.

“Port Vale and its incredible fanbase will always hold a place in my and my family’s hearts. The journey we travelled together, on and off the pitch, can never be erased. I will never be able to repay you as people for how you were there for us in our darkest hour, and for that we will be eternally grateful. I hope one day, I will have the opportunity to thank you all in person.

“To Carol, Kevin, the Shanahan family, and David Flitcroft, I can’t thank you enough for your friendship and support, and for giving me the opportunity to manage this special club. To my staff and players, thank you for giving me everything, and for energising me throughout our time together. I wish you all the best for the end of the season and beyond, and hope our paths will cross once more.

“I have already taken some time to rest, recharge and focus on my own personal development, and will continue to do that.

“I am certain that the experience I gained during my time with Port Vale will help me as I continue my coaching journey. I am proud to have five promotions as a manager, and I am both excited and ambitious to face my next challenge and to achieve more.”
