Darrell Clarke signs five year deal with Port Vale

Oporto Sports would like to congratulate our client Port Vale manager Darrell Clarke on his new landmark five year contract with the club.

The announcement was made yesterday (Thursday) ahead of Saturday’s League 2 play-off final against Mansfield Town, a club Darrell has a strong association with having played for them and originally being from the area.

Clarke, 44, steered the club away from relegation in his first season, became the first Vale manager to win back-to-back manager of the month awards (September and October 2021), and finished the 2021/22 regular season in fifth place, qualifying for the club’s first play-off final in almost 30 years after beating Swindon Town on penalties in the semi-final.

This agreement marks the second time in his managerial career a club has rewarded Darrell with a five year contract, with Bristol Rovers doing the same in 2017, underlining his strengths as a leader with a vision for the long-term.

Oporto would also like to wish Darrell, his staff and players all the best for tomorrow’s game at Wembley. Up the Vale!
