Ian Baraclough joins Cheltenham Town as assistant manager

Oporto Sports is delighted to have completed the agreement for our client Ian Baraclough to be confirmed as assistant manager of Cheltenham Town Football Club.

Baraclough has joined the staff of fellow Oporto client Darrell Clarke ahead of the club’s home League 1 match against Carlisle United on Saturday, and has agreed a deal until the end of the season.

This is Ian’s first permanent appointment since departing his role as manager of Northern Ireland over a year ago. Since then, he has enrolled on the Masters in Sporting Directorship course at Manchester Met University, has regularly attended games and also worked as a pundit and co-commentator for various media outlets including BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Leicester and Sky Sports News.

Ian has previously worked as manager of Scunthorpe United, Sligo Rovers, where he won three trophies in 18 months, Motherwell, beating Glasgow Rangers in a play-off to retain top flight status, and then an assistant role with Oldham Athletic, before becoming Northern Ireland U21s boss, beating Spain and finishing second in his qualifying group.
