Friend of Oporto Sports, Luke Dowling, has contributed to the recent Sky Sports documentary, English Managers – The Decline, speaking to senior reporter Rob Dorsett.
Dowling is joined by other names from within the game including Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, Roy Hodgson, Howard Wilkinson and Chris Wilder amongst others, to discuss the lack of English managers at the elite level, and why The FA decided to appoint Thomas Tuchel to replace Gareth Southgate as England men’s national team manager.
Luke raises an interesting concept in stating that when a foreign head coach or manager is appointed to a role in the Premier League, they could be required to have an English coach appointed as part of their staff to provide further experience at that level for home-grown coaches.
