Darrell Clarke

Oporto Sports is delighted to work with Walsall manager Darrell Clarke as his official publicists.

Clarke began his playing career with his hometown club, Mansfield Town before joining Hartlepool United and helping them to reach League One. He finished his playing days with Salisbury City, where he was named as captain, before taking over as player/manager and winning back-to-back promotions, through the play-offs, to reach the National League, whilst also taking the club to the FA Cup third round for the first time in their history.

In 2013, Clarke joined Bristol Rovers as assistant manager, and in less than 12 months was named as manager. He led Rovers to successive promotions; firstly, with an immediate return to the Football League after a penalty shootout play-off victory over Grimsby Town at Wembley Stadium, followed by automatic promotion to League One. In the 2016/17 season, Clarke established Rovers in tenth placed in League One, just outside the play-offs.

Speaking about the announcement, Oporto director Dean Eldredge, said: “We are immensely proud to be working with Darrell. He is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and successful young managerial talents in British football and his record is simply outstanding.”
