Oporto client and renowned sports psychologist, Marc Sagal, recently took time to speak to The Athletic’s Rob Tanner about his journey to English football and how he wished he’d had the opportunity to work with England during the 2006 World Cup.
Marc, who runs Winning Mind – based in San Diego, was provisionally approached by then-England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson to work with the national team’s players at a time where sports psychology was only just coming to the fore.
Throughout his career, Marc has worked with a number of clubs and their players and seen first-hand the way that sports psychology has become an integral part of professional set-ups.
