Stephen Clemence named as Gillingham head coach

Oporto Sports is delighted to have completed the agreements for Stephen Clemence to become Gillingham’s new head coach and Robbie Stockdale to join him as assistant coach.

The role is Stephen’s first as a head coach, having worked extensively as Steve Bruce’s assistant and first-team coach at West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United, Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Hull City, along with coaching roles at Sunderland and Birmingham City.

Stephen’s first game in charge will be tomorrow (Saturday) in the FA Cup 1st Round, away to Hereford, before facing Fulham U21s at home on Tuesday in the EFL Trophy and Wrexham away on Saturday 11 November in his first league game.

Oporto Sports would like to thank Gillingham for their co-operation throughout the process and also thank Stephen’s long-time partner Rob Segal, as well as thanking the League Managers’ Association and the League Coaches’ Association for their expertise.
