Steve Cotterill featured on Bristol City legends mural

Oporto Sports client and Bristol City legend Steve Cotterill has been honoured within a mural featuring notable former players and managers, created just outside Ashton Gate by independent fans group, Art4Fans.

The artwork features Cotterill, Joe Jordan, Scott Murray, Paul Cheesley, Alan Dicks, Terry Cooper, Billy Wedlock and John Atyeo.

Speaking about the recognition he received, Cotterill said:

“It is an honour. It’s sort of slightly embarrassing when they say there are eight legends up there, because I never look at myself as a legend. I suppose what happens is that’s what supporters call you, because in their eyes, that’s what you are, so I’m really, really proud of that.

“The love that I get in the city, every time I walk around, is fantastic. Whilst I don’t do social media, I know that always on social media, there are a lot of Bristol City fans who are always very, very much behind me. I thank them all for that.

“I never got a chance to sort of say goodbye to them, but I suppose that’s what happens in football, you just have to take that as tough as it was at the time. Whilst I’m standing there with two trophies, I really believe there could have been another one the following season if we had just got in the players I had wanted. It was an incredible time.”
