Steve Cotterill named as Forest Green Rovers manager

Oporto Sports is delighted to have completed the agreement for our client, five-time promotion winner, Steve Cotterill, to be confirmed as the manager of Forest Green Rovers.

Cotterill’s first game in the dugout is this Saturday at home to Accrington Stanley, with the club bottom of League 2, six points adrift of safety, with 19 games remaining.

Saturday will be Steve’s 874th game as a manager, as he edges closer to 900 games. He is no stranger to the West Country, having been at the helm for Cheltenham Town’s remarkable rise, taking them from the Southern League to League 1, as well as winning the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium. His time at Bristol City also saw incredible success where he took a team from the bottom of League 1, facing their second successive relegation, to the double of the League 1 title and the EFL Trophy, the following season.

Steve also won the League 2 title with Notts County, had a successful spell with Burnley, and also managed Stoke City, Portsmouth, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City and most recently Shrewsbury Town, who he guided away from the bottom of League 1, to their second-highest finish in 34 years.

Oporto would like to thank Forest Green Rovers and The League Managers’ Association for their help and cooperation throughout the process.
