Oporto Sports is delighted to have completed the agreement for our client Steve Cotterill to return to Cheltenham Town as manager, on a contract until June 2028.
Cotterill, who is the most successful manager in the club’s history, led Cheltenham to promotion from the Southern League to League One, along with winning the FA Trophy and two manager of the year awards, during a remarkable spell between 1997 and 2002.
Steve’s career then took him to roles at Stoke City, Burnley, Notts County, Portsmouth, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Birmingham City, Shrewsbury Town and Forest Green Rovers. Cotterill won the League Two title with Notts County, the League One and EFL Trophy double with Bristol City, the club’s second-highest finish in 33 years at Shrewsbury, and reached the play-off semi-finals as well as going a year unbeaten at home at FGR.
Steve’s first game back is on Saturday against Fleetwood Town, and Oporto Sports would like to wish him all the best for his return, as he aims to keep the club in the Football League.
