Steve Evans returns to Rotherham United

Oporto Sports is delighted to have helped conclude the agreement for our client Steve Evans to rejoin Rotherham United as the club’s new manager.

Steve will be in charge for Saturday’s EFL Championship home game against Birmingham City, and is reunited with his long-time assistant, Paul Raynor, who also leaves his role at Stevenage.

During Evans’ time at Stevenage, he masterminded the club’s escape from relegation to the National League, joining in March 2022 and winning four and drawing one of the last nine games, to finish nine points clear of the bottom two. In the 2022/23 season, Steve guided the Boro to promotion to League 1, as well as beating Premier League side Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round. This season, Steve was nominated for League 1 Manager of the Season at the EFL Awards, with the club sat just outside the play-off places before his departure.

Oporto Sports would like to thank both Rotherham United and Stevenage Football Club for the respectful way the move was handled, and to wish both clubs all the best for the future.
